Fourteen folks are headed to Merida, Mexico, from July 11 through July 19. We will be working at two schools in Merida, doing mostly painting. We might also do light construction and some computer work.

Wednesday: More Work and a Return to Cholul

Wednesday it was the hottest day yet. Over 100 degrees and 100% humidity. And it was back to work.

As the day dawned, Pastor Tim got sick. Shirley decided it was dehydration and not
baterial sickness. However, he still felt bad and rested most of the day.

All the paint teams were out. There was still a lot to paint. It looks like we might not finish, but we will get very far. This morning, Sam Gomez joined us. Enrique and Febe Gomez have family in Compeche, which is close to Merida. They are visiting family and Sam will be helping us for a couple of days.

After lunch, we had a long siesta for the afternoon. It was hot, even with ceiling fans going and lots of water drinking. Most people switched to Gatorade today.

In the evening, we participated in a church service in Cholul. We sang as a group, Megan sang a solo, Jenna and Shane sang, and we did our drama. Pastor Tim felt well enough to preach, but Jake took his place in the drama (he plays the devil). We were at the same church in Cholul that we worked on in 2002. We found the signature that we placed there back in 2002 and met a few of the same people we met back then.

Please pray for health. We have a few people on the edge of illnessm -- mostly from the heat. Also pray for efficiency as we finish the last day of work tomorrow.

Note: This may be the last entry for a while. No Internet connection tomorrow or Friday. I might be able to post Saturday.
